The STAR Assessments are administered to all students in grades K–8 several times throughout the school year.
Students in grades K–3 take the STAR Early Literacy assessment, which measures foundational literacy skills typically developed between ages 3–9. Older students may also take this assessment if there are concerns about early literacy gaps. Once a student reaches a benchmark scaled score, this assessment is no longer required.
Students in grades 2–8 take the STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments. First-grade students may also participate in these assessments if they have mastered at least 100 sight words.
Assessment results are shared with families periodically throughout the year to help track student progress and guide instruction.
