Walk a Mile in Their Shoes Assignment 
 
The characters in The Outsiders fall into false stereotypes. Using the shoe as your canvas, sketch or write themes that show us the real character underneath. For example, Ponyboy looks like a tough greaser, but really, he enjoys sunsets, movies, and books. If I picked Ponyboy, I might draw a sunset, the countryside, or books. 
  1. Choose a character from the book who is falsely stereotyped 
  2. Sketch ideas or write words that show the 'true' character instead of just how they appear on the outside using what you've learned in the novel
  3. Your shoe must be cut out and your name should be on the back
